The end of the road for mascara?
As many women will know, killer heels may look great but may also end up disfiguring your feet. Therefore it comes as no surprise to hear that some cosmetic surgeons are cashing in on womens’ love of shoes by helping them achieve perfect feet.
There are many different types of procedure on offer. Some women opt for the painful toe shortening operation where surgeons use a saw to slice segments from the toe bones to make the foot shorter, or to make the toes look more in proportion to each other. The operation costs around $5,000 and may take several months for the foot to fully heal and allow the patient to walk normally again. On the flip side of the coin, some surgeons have reported doing surgery to lengthen some women’s toes with the same sort of pricing and healing time as before.
Others hate the look of their ‘cankles’. This is where the calf appears to go straight into the foot with no clear distinction between the two. Some will also have liposuction on their ankles and lower calf muscles to give better definition, and to allow them to fit their legs into knee-high boots.
For anyone choosing to go under the knife to have work done on their feet and ankles, it is wise to consider the decision carefully. The feet are one of the most sensitive parts of the body and any surgery will take a long time to heal. During the healing process, the foot will tend to be quite swollen and painful and walking will be difficult. Any procedure which involves changing the bone structure will also carry an increased risk.
Liposuction around the ankles is also dangerous and may take a while for the results to be seen the at may be removed during the operation but the area is likely to remain swollen for a period of time after the cosmetic procedure has been completed. Sometimes the swelling will be caused by fluid, rather than fat, and in these cases, once the fluid has been removed, there is no guarantee that the fluid will not return again in the near future.
Botox, one of the stalwarts of the cosmetic surgery industry and a product for which many varying uses have been found, can also be used for the feet in a more unintrusive way. Botox can be injected into the balls of the feet to plump up the balls of the feet, making high heels more comfortable and allowing the patient to wear their heels for longer.
Despite many of these procedures seeming to be quite extreme, and in many cases highly expensive, it appears that for some women, the expense and the pain is worth it in order to wear beautiful heels.

i want toe surgery, how much would it cost?
@daisy – it will depend on what sort of toe surgery you are after; toe shortening, toe straightening, toe lengthening etc. The price for the toe surgery will also probably vary according to what country you live in.
