Lebanon’s cosmetic surgery loans a good thing?
Beware of ‘medi-spas’
Foot surgery is the latest craze to hit the cosmetic surgery world. From straightening and shortening toes, to toe-tucks, women are turning to cosmetic surgery to get perfect feet.
With the summer coming, many people feel the need to undergo procedures to make their feet perfect in time for strappy sandals and flip-flops. The most popular foot cosmetic surgery procedures are having the toes straightened, removing corns and changing the length of the toes. Being a fairly new type of surgery, prices are not cheap. In the US, people are paying around $2,000 for a toe tuck, and up to $20,000 for a full foot makeover.
However, beautiful feet may come at a price – something that looks great may not feel great. The foot it a biomechanical miracle, a finely balanced and tuned piece of machinery. Over the course of a day, the average person puts hundreds of tonnes of force whilst walking around. Changing the bone structure may affect that balance and the patient may end up with permanent pain. Having said that, foot surgery can be very effective and cause no long-term ill effects, however care must be taken to choose not only a suitable surgery, but also a suitable surgeon. The best surgeons should be experts in orthopedic podiatry with an excellent track history.
The attention that some people pay to their feet may strike some as odd – after all, no-one is perfect, and one of the best places to have a flaw or imperfection must be the feet as they remain covered most of the time, plus they are one of the last places people look. However, as every inch of our bodies now comes under scrutiny, perhaps it was only a matter of time before foot surgery became the next big thing.

Both of my second toes are longer than my big toe. And the other problem is that the both are extremly crooked and ugly. It makes me feel embarrassed and uncomfortable everytime I try to go bare-foot or wear a nice pair of open-toe shoes. I would like both of my second toes to be shortened and straightened. Please help me.
