Face lifts – the lowdown
Gold vs cosmetic surgery
Laser hair removal is the newest treatment trend for getting rid of unwanted hair. Gone are the days of waxing, plucking and electrolysis – all very painful techniques which need to be repeated on a regular basis.
What is Laser Hair Removal?
The laser causes controlled damage to the hair follicles. This causes them to go into a temporary shock. Whilst they are in shock, they do not create any more hair. They will remain in shock for about 2-3 months, during which time, no re-growth should be seen. When the hair does start to regrow, it should be thinner and lighter than before.
The treatment itself
The treatment will last anything from 15 to 90 minutes, depending on the area being treated. There will be some slight discomfort – the sensation has been described as having someone snap a small rubber band against your skin. If large areas are being treated, ice may be applied immediately after treatment to minimise the pain. Sedatives, pain medication and local anesthetic is not normally used with this technique.
Unlike waxing, you can shave immediately after treatment. Be aware that some skin may look slightly bruised after treatment. You may also find some areas scab and blister for a few days. You should avoid unprotected sun for three to six months after the treatment to prevent sunburn and discolouration.
Is it permanent?
A false misconception is that laser hair removal is permanent – it isn’t. However the effects can last up to three months – more in some lucky people.

Do you know what folliculitis is? It is a darkening of the skin as a result of inflammation. It looks appalling and I got it because for the past 10 years I waxed and shaved my problem areas. How else was I supposed to get rid of that unsightly body hair? Have you ever tried wearing a bikini without getting a bikini wax? I found out that there is another way to get rid of your unwanted body hair. Thanks to laser hair removal procedures I can loose all that hair and I can treat my folliculitis. Isn’t that great? I will solve two problems with one simple procedure!
I don’t have much knowledge on laser hair removal method. Earlier I used to go for temporary hair removal process for removing unwanted hair. I faced multiple problems by going for temporary hair removal methods. I want a permanent solution.
