With the global economy in poor shape and the feeling being that seniors are more likely to be laid-off than their younger counterparts, it is no surprise that many older people turn to cosmetic surgery in a bid to boost their self-confidence and help their job prospects.

However according to some cosmetic surgeons, older patients are increasingly opting for body contouring operations over facial cosmetic surgery such as facelifts or Botox. Over half of women over 50 are thought to go under the knife for some form of body cosmetic surgery such as liposuction, breast augmentation or tummy tucks.

Men, however, are less interested in their bodies and more interested in their faces with men of similar age more frequently opting for facial cosmetic surgery in many cases visiting the surgeon’s office after their wives have had plastic surgery. The most popular forms of male cosmetic surgery are nose reshaping and eyelid surgery.
