It’s one of the more bizarre cosmetic surgeries around – surgery to make your ears pointed.
The popularity of the Lord of the Rings and also of Star Trek has led some hardened fans to have cosmetic surgery on their ears to give them a more pointed look – just like an elf or a Vulcan.
The new pointed ear look is created by having the top of the cartilage in the ear sliced and then sewed back together again in a point.
Prices vary from as low as just $600 for both ears – however because the body modification artist (Steve Haworth) who offers this low price is not a trained Doctor he is not permitted to use any anaesthetic therefore the procedure is not without some pain.
